Do I need a referral from a doctor before I can be treated by a Physical Therapist?
Maryland is a “direct access” state, meaning that you may receive physical therapy services without a physician’s referral. However, your insurance plan may require that you have a physician referral in order for physical therapy to be a covered expense. Please check with your insurance company for coverage requirements. We do offer treatment on a self-pay basis, if desired.

Do you accept my insurance plan?
We participate in the majority of health insurance plans including medicare and Worker’s Compensation. Please contact us prior to your first visit to confirm our participation in your plan.

Will you bill my insurance company or do I have to send in for reimbursement?
As a courtesy to our patients, we will submit claims to your insurance company for physical therapy services rendered.

How much will it cost to receive physical therapy services?
Reimbursement for physical therapy is based on contractual agreements with each individual insurance carrier. Your insurance carrier determines co-pays and co-insurances. We are considered a “Specialist” for co-pays.

Are all your therapists licensed?
All of our therapists have over 20 years experience and are licensed to practice physical therapy in the State of Maryland.

What happens during my first visit?
Your first visit will be 60-90 minutes long. During your visit, your physical therapist will obtain a history of your dysfunction, perform a physical evaluation, and create a individualized rehabilitation program based on the findings. You will receive physical therapy treatment on your first visit.

What should I bring with me to my first visit?
Please arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit to fill out any necessary paperwork. Please bring the following items:
-Referral Slip/Prescription from your medical doctor (if you have one)
      -Your medical insurance card(s)
      -Photo ID (ie Driver’s License)
-If accident or worker’s compensation injury, please bring your claim information, including claim number and adjuster’s name

Paperwork – Submit your Paperwork (please fill out ahead of time) and your insurance card. [Download paperwork from the Forms page]

Treatment Plan – Your initial treatment plan is developed with input from you, your therapist, and your doctor. This includes how many times per week you will visit, how many weeks you will need therapy, home programs, education and goals. As you progress, your treatment plan may be modified and refined.

What should I wear to my first visit?
Wear comfortable clothing such as you would wear to exercise. If you have a leg injury, please wear or bring shorts. If you have a shoulder or neck injury, a tank top or camisole (women) may be helpful. We have gowns, t-shirts, and shorts if you prefer.

How long will my visits last?
Physical therapy treatments typically last 60-90 minutes, though multiple diagnoses or lower functioning patients may expect to spend upwards of 2 hours in our office.

How many times will I need to come for treatment?
Patients are typically seen 1-3 times per week depending on the type and severity of the injury. Duration of treatment also varies and is determined on an individual basis.

May my children accompany me on my appointments?
Well-behaved children may accompany parents, if necessary. Please bring books, and quiet self- contained games to help occupy your children.
